Abstract
In liberal democracies is the change of parties in government a matter of course, not so in Singapore, where the government's People's Action Party (PAP) held power over fifty years. This connection holds true even after the May general election, in which the PAP won despite the dissatisfaction due to the consequences of the economic crisis.
