We can never completely prevent accidents during sports performances. Thanks to modern technical equipment and better medical care, their consequences are less severe than before.
On the other hand, but also thanks to better access to care, we encounter more severe physical and mental impacts. We also know from experience that it is worth not to underestimate multidisciplinary prevention or comprehensive aftercare in the event of an accident.
The paper deals with the possibilities of psychological intervention and its benefits in patients after sports injuries. The case reports present various types of care offered at the rehabilitation clinic Malvazinky, and ways of linking psychological intervention with other disciplines (physiotherapy, medicine, nursing ...), but also with the family and surroundings of the athlete himself.
Specifically, the case reports will address the following issues: - repetitive chances in athletes with regard to cognitive abilities; - serious sports injuries and environmental impacts (family system, team, friends ...); - amputation and life after it; - the possibility of engaging in sports activities after an accident.
