Abstract

The topic of the paper deals with individuals who have spent at least part of their lives in institutional care, specifically in the children's home. They often leave the facility without housing and employment, thus making it difficult to start their own life.

The aim of the research was to find out how individuals in the children's home were prepared for independent life, whether they used any help from the state and whether they were able to successfully complete systematic vocational training even after the end of institutional care. With regard to the objective, a qualitative research strategy, an anamnestic study using the interview method was chosen.

The result of the study that even after reaching adulthood, the individual is not sufficiently prepared for independent life outside the institution. The result of the survey coincides with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, which is planning a reform in this area.
