While there are many advantages to teaching and learning closely related languages that belong to the same family, it can sometimes be complicated. This poster shows typical Russian-speaking students' syntax and morphology mistakes resulting from negative transfer of the Russian language.

The data was taken from the Czech corpus CZESL and reflects interlingual influences and ways of didactically applying the similarity of two languages - in other words, a contrasting approach in teaching closely related languages. The final part of the poster analyzes a contrasting approach in certain Czech textbooks for Slavic-speaking students.
