Metastable beta Ti alloys are perspective for implant production. The aim is to achieve Young's modulus (YM) comparable to bone (20 GPa) and yield strength of at least 900 MPa as in current Ti-6Al-4V alloy.

Recently developed Ti-35Nb-6Ta-7Zr-0.7O shows a good combination of YM (80 GPa) and strength (>1000 MPa) due to the addition of 0.7% of oxygen. Current study shows, that the YM can be further decreased by decrease in Nb and Ta content while the yield strength over 1000 MPa is maintained.
