The paper deals with part of the Habsburg relations the monarchy (or the Bohemian Lands) and the early Transylvanian period the modern age on the example of the Austrian Archduke Maria Christierna from Styria and her role in Habsburg's policy. Person of Maria Christierna is rather forgotten in the Czech historiography.
She was a sister of the Emperor Ferdinand II. The circumstances of the marriage of Maria Christierna and the Transylvanian Duke Sigismund Bathory, the political impact of this act, subsequently then the role of Marie Christierna as the Duchess of Transylvania are introduced.
