Abstract
The poster presents written correspondence between leading archaeologists of European historical archeology, Zdeněk Smetánka (1931-2017) and John G. Hurst (1927-2003) from 1964-1969.
The surviving letters provide a unique view of the beginnings of modern rural European archeology.
