Abstract
Former head of the Department of Internal Medicine in Pilsen prof. Simer was originally active in Bratislava University where he was considered an author of the first biochemical publication achieved in Slovakia.
Article analyses his activity, both healthcare and research, and describes his transfer to Pilsen as a result of liquidation of Czechoslovakia during the WW2. In Pilsen he joined the resistance movement, was arrested, condemned and executed in Berlin.
