Business trips to socialist foreign countries on the example of the first rector of VŠZ Vladimír Kosil

Abstract

Vladimír Kosil is one of the most important personalities of the development of the Agricultural University in Prague. He was not only an expert in the field of soil science, meteorology and climatology, but also a skilled organizer and strategist, who in the 1950s and sixties gained certain power and influence.

Vladimír Kosil graduated from the high School of Agricultural and Forestry Engineering from the Czech Technical University, where she was one of the faculties, and made it a separate agricultural college. Thanks to his enormous effort and personal commitment, he was responsible for building a unique campus of the Agricultural University in Prague-Suchdol.

In 1952 he became the rector of the school, and in this position he worked until the year 1960. But until the end of his life in the year 1977 he was active.

The historians Blažek and Kubálek mention Vladimír Kosil as one of the key figures of the development of the Prague VŠZ in the post-February period. As an expert on půdagricultureoznalectví was Vladimir Kosil at the time of his term of rector's functions several times sent on missions to the Agriculture conference, especially to the GDR and the USSR.
