Church Asylum as Church Responsibility in a Mobile World?: Social-Ethical Reflection

Abstract

Church asylum has become an important topic in German public debate in 2015. Based on the situation in Germany, the paper describes what is meant by church asylum.

It shows the role that this institution has played and plays in the tradition of the Church. Then, the social-ethical criteria of church asylum as an act of civil disobedience are presented.
