The paper deals with linguistic characteristics of the Czech language in contemporary educational materials. The author defi nes the notion and term school Czech language and states that the history-centred approach to the language, as it is seen on the material of examples used in textbooks, still dominates in the educational process, despite the long-lasting criticism.
This tendency has a response in texts prepared by pupils. Therefore is justifi able to speak about the real school Czech language which is characteristic by its archaicity and artifi cia lity.
