The Renaissance porta of the Benedictine St. George'sAbbey at Prague Castle in the context of patrocinium and dynastic veneration to this Saint during the Middle Ages

Abstract

The study deals with the context of the origin of the Renaissance portal of the Benedictine monastery church of St. George fighting with a dragon.

In respect to the dedication of the basilica the cult of St. George is observed.

The connection of the ruling court with this Benedictine monastery was very considerable for the whole Middle Ages.
