Jan Hus - A National Hero in the National Museum

Publication at Catholic Theological Faculty |
2019

Abstract

The study deals with the interpretation of the character of John Hus in the presentation of exhibition projects organized by the National Museum in Prague in the 20th century. Even though the Hussite period was not the most significant in terms of formal qualities, the significance of the personality of Jan Hus as well as the Hussite movement within the national understanding of Czech history belonged to the most important categories.

Each era, however, adapted Hus and the Hussite movement to its own character through which it perceived them.
