Participation of All Citizens in Public Life as Basis of Political Community - Challenges for Christian Social Ethics

Abstract

The paper deals with participation of citizens in public life as an essential aspect of the modern political community. After the presentation of the development Catholic social teaching on democracy and civic participation, and after analysis of symptoms of contemporary European societies that stress the urgency of civic participation, the paper formulates and reflects challenges for Christian social ethics.
