Areal interpolation of spatial interaction data

Publication at Faculty of Science |

Abstract

Spatial interaction data, such as commuting flows, are important for many purposes but they often come expressed for a different set of spa-tial units than required. This happens when comparing data from multiple censuses but especially when cell phone positioning data are involved.

This study aims to develop a more accurate method to areally interpolate spatial interaction data to a different set of spatial units and test it on cell phone data-derived commuting flows for Estonia.
