Unemployment of higher education graduates in the years 2002-2018

Abstract

The study deals with unemployment of higher education graduates in the Czech Republic. Its main focus is an analysis of unemployment rate of higher education graduates from year 2002 to year 2018.

It is based on data from the database SIMS, MŠMT (Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports) and the Labour Office of MPSV (Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs). With this data a development of the unemployment rate of fresh higher education graduates at the level of type of degree, type of the faculty, type of founder and individual institutions is shown.

The results show that current graduates find themselves in unique situation where their unemployment rate is historically at the lowest level. In addition, the study puts the issue of employability of Czech graduates into an international context.

With the help of Eurostat data the study shows how the current situation of Czech higher education graduates is also exceptional when compared to the other European Union countries. At the end the study also shows cases of surveys of unemployment of higher education graduates in other European countries.
