Abstrakt
The chapter deals with the journey of the Czechoslovak general Vladimír Klecanda in Colombia in 1934. The journey was made in the context of the political changes in this Latin American country.
After almost half a century, the period of supremacy of the conservative party in the country was over. The new liberal government promoted the modernization of the country and introduced a large-scale reform program.
However, these objectives were halted by the global economic crisis and the war conflict with Peru. In this context, Klecanda advised the new liberal government on the issue of defence of the country.
Klecanda's Colombian stay also influenced trade relations between the two countries.
