The main focus of this chapter is the place and role of children's literature in teaching Russian as a foreign language, the richness in material and opportunities of using children's literature in class, the requirements of the book, and criteria for choosing an adequate text for the class. We are talking about dramatization as a didactic mean in teaching Russian as a foreign language, and the didactic potential of lyrical text in children's literature.
A special focus is given to folklore texts thanks to their unlimited ability to observe various phenomena of the Russian culture and juxtapose them with their own culture.
