Abstract
The main aim of this thesis is to clarify whether there is a requirement for a legal associate in addition to the principle of a legal judge and whether this principle is sufficiently fulfilled in the Czech legal system. First, the principle of a legal judge is briefly discussed.
Subsequently, the question of assigning lay judges to individual cases is addressed, where insufficient mechanisms in the work schedules of some courts are pointed out. On the basis of these, it is possible not only to randomly choose the lay-ups, but sometimes also to change them.
