Abstract

The study deals with the mining of ores in the Czech lands in the Middle Ages and the position of localities whose inhabitants were engaged in ore mining, especially in the populated ore veins, the upper towns. The analysis of accessible documents revealed the different position of cities in deposits of precious metals, gold and silver, and cities in deposits of utility metals, of which tin, iron, lead were mined in the Czech lands in the Middle Ages.
