Abstract

The incidence and prevalence of both colorectal cancer and metabolic syndrome is rising. In this pilot multicenter prospective study 2362 asymptomatic individuals were recruited to undergo screening colonoscopy or immunochemical faecal occult blood test positive colonoscopy.

In people with prediabetes/ Type 2 diabetes, a trend of higher occurrence of colorectal pathologies was observed in comparison with non diabetic subjects, and even the association of prediabetes/ Type 2 diabetes with the occurrence of advanced adenomas was significant.
