In this contribution we want to focus on one of the most ambitious international attempts to tackle the problem of business and human rights and, in the first art of our study, we will briefly summarize the structure and contents of the UN Guiding Principles on Business Human Rights of 2011. The focus of the second part is on the implementation of the Guiding Principles from EU perspective.
We will consider some issues related to the delimitation of powers between the EU and its Member Stats in the field of human rights obligations. Further, we will look into rather recent EU documents that deal especially with the issue of legal remedies for those whose rights have been violated in the course of business activities.
The major goal of the study is to show the relevance of the UN Guiding Principles for the EU, which is one of the three major world trading powers and one of the most favored locations of transnational corporations.
