Abstract

Autism spectrum disorder is a developmental mental disorder that is manifested by abnormal social interaction, persistent repetitive patterns of behavior and impaired communication abilities. As a result, the patient does not understand the surrounding world as a healthy person does, he often responds unusually to common situations and stimuli.

The prevalence of this disease is around 1%. Autism belongs to incurable diseases but psychological approaches can alleviate problematic behavior.

The commonly used therapeutic method is so-called structured learning methodology, which focuses, among other things, on the training of functional communication. Autistic cooperation during the dental examination and treatment is especially limited by primary illness.
