Abstract

The apparent falsification of the 'secularisation thesis' and the recent global rise of identity politiics calls for reconsideration of the place of religion in the public sphere, in both national and transnational contexts. Several prominent philosophers of religion and political philosophers, including J.

Habermas, put forward proposals how to conceptualise inclusion of moral and political reasons formulated in religious language of various religious traditions that would maximaise constructive and minimise destructive contrubiution of religions to the debate in the public local and global spheres.
