The problems in piano accompaniment of certain musical instruments

Publication at Faculty of Education |

Abstract

This study focuses on the specific problems in piano accompaniment of certain musical instruments (the flute, the oboe, the clarinet, the trumpet, the violin, the viola), is especially concerned with the dynamics. The study presents measured results of the sound pressure level of these instruments in extreme dynamics (ppp, fff) and the results of "auditory analysis" of these instruments supported in turn by four basic types of piano accompaniment.

The aim of the presented overview of these results is the facilitation of preparation of the piano part in order for the pianists to be capable of analysing and identifying problems which might arise in accompaniment and therefore to be able to study and perform the musical piece accordingly.
