The old and the new church in the 1370s

Abstract

The St Vitus building accounts of 1372-78 primarily inform about the construction of the Gothic cathedral. They also enable to describe how the still extant Romanesque basilica affected the course of the construction.

Access to the unfinished cathedral, construction of a (provisional) roofing and simultaneous liturgical operation in the old and the unfinished church are discussed.
