Laboratory diagnostics of patients with MGUS and results of their monitoring in a regional biochemical laboratory within 10 years

Abstract

Monoclonal gammopathy are a heterogeneous group of disorders. They are characterized by proliferation of one clone differentiated B-cells producing the monoclonal immunoglobulin (MIG).

Monoclonal immunoglobulin (M - protein, M - component, paraprotein) consists of both an intact immunoglobulin molecule or also only of the structural component, i.e. light chain kappa or lambda, rarely heavy chain. The basic investigative methods of detection of the monoclonal immunoglobulin belong electrophoresis of serum protein and immunofixation electrophoresis including the determination of free light chains.

Our report refers to the actual observation of MGUS (monoclonal gammopathies of uncertain significance) laboratory diagnosed in our regional laboratory and their development over 10 years.
