Abstract

This chapter analyses Byron's satiric engagement with the libel of 'The Satanic School' of poetry coined by the Robert Southey, the contemporary Poet Laureate and Byron's literary nemesis, linking Byron's strategies of recasting Romantic Satanism to his late dramatic works, resulting in an interesting, and novel, ethos of Byronic boredom.
