From Oath to Confession and Back? : Protestatio in the Late Middle Ages, and Its Transformation in the Thought of Wyclif and the Hussites

Abstract

The chapter defines what was protestatio fidei in the late Middle Ages and how it looked like, and on this basis, it follows its content and intentional transformation in the work by John Wycliff and the Prague university masters, especially the Hussites. It also describes the response of the guardians of the orthodoxy in England, Prague, and Constance to this transformation.
