Abstrakt
An elevation of serum/plasma bilirubin concentration is frequently encountered in our everyday clinical practice. Rapid and accurate evaluation of such a patient is of great concern to initiate an effective therapeutic strategy in a timely fashion to improve the outcomes.
We briefly review the knowledge of bilirubin metabolism and measurement and outline a practical stepwise evaluation of a patient with hyperbilirubinemia.
