Abstract

Resistant hypertension is defined as blood pressure that remains above goal (140/90 mm Hg) despite concurrent use of three antihypertensive agents of different classes, one of which should be a diuretic. With this type of hypertension suffered about 10-30 % of the hypertensives.

These patients have approximately 2-3* higher risk for cardiovascular events in correlation with these ones with goal level of blood pressure. It is estimated, that about 50-56 % of the sleeping apnea syndrome patients suffer with hypertension, too.

The resistant hypertension is very dangerous disease and close attention must be done to this situation.
