Abstract

This study presents a set of patients with gunshot wound injuries treated both surgically and conservatively. Judging by the results, patients with gunshot head injuries in the Czech environment have a very poor prognosis with high mortality.

This is especially due to the high percentage of suicide attempts. The patient's prognosis can be determined at the time of admission to the hospital using several predictive factors, and in particular a combination thereof.

These factors include: GCS on admission, type of injury, number of lobes and planes through which trajectory penetrates, and hit critical structures. Establishing a prognosis is crucial to choosing the appropriate therapeutic approach, which is particularly difficult in a suicide attempt.
