Abstract

Simeons' colophons, in addition to his much more famous Travel Accounts, represent an important historical source and they could be as such used by researchers in the field of Armenian history, Ottoman history and history of Central and East Europe in the first third of 17th century; the historical period full of turbulent phases and peripeties, a century that divided Europe from the point of view of religious wars and finally laid the foundations of the nation-states, a century during which the traditional enemy on the eastern border, Ottoman empire, started to gradually change its stereotypical image, balancing in the wide range between fascination and fear, until it finally became rather fashion affair instead of permanent threat.
