Abstract
Re-edition and updating of a practically focused publication, which is intended for neurologists, psychiatrists, geriatrists, psychologists, pathologists and other people interested in neurodegenerative diseases. The etiopathological, clinical, neuropsychological and neuroradiological and therapeutic aspects are reviewed and practically discussed together with neuropathological findings in the most common diseases: mild cognitive disorder and Alzheimer's disease, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia, progressive aphasia, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, progressive , corticobasal degeneration, multisystem atrophy, motor neuron disease, prion disease and many others.
Compared to the first edition, each disease is accompanied by an instructive case report. Attention is paid to general therapeutic approaches common for manifestations of dementia and parkinsonism (pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, treatment of complications, preventive options) as well as specific approaches in individual diseases.
Neuropsychiatric manifestations of dementia and possibilities of their influence are discussed. The book also includes legal and ethical issues, including the communication of diagnosis, the issue of driving licenses, informed consent and legal capacity.
