The strategies follwed by Egyptian NGOs to overcome the restrictions in NPOs Law

Abstract

The civil society contributed with a big role in achieving development in Arab countries. The political transition affected the role of civil in general and its performance in particular.

This transition was a motive for the non-governmental organizations to compete with the government to accomplish their mission and provide services to the society, which the government and the private sector failed to provide. In 2017, the Egyptian state issued a law for organize the work of the NGOs in Egypt, but it was obvious that this new law is not substantially different from the old one in its trial to control the work of the civil society.

This article intends to answer the questions about "how the NGOs in Egypt are dealing with the restrictive situation by the police and state, and what are the strategies that these organizations follow to overcome these obstacles?" The Egyptian NGOs worked hard to sustain their activities even though these restrictions from the state, which is characterized by prosecutions, legislative, and executive restrictions.
