The video captures examples of classic stucco techniques, including historical examples: it focuses primarily on stucco and artificial marble (scagliola). Gradually, the preparation of the material including the selection of raw materials is shown, followed by the processing of the material and its treatment for selected techniques: It shows both the processing of stucco on site with free-hand modeling and the use of technical tools verified by centuries of practice.
The follows demonstration of the preparation of the mold and the processing of the mass, including the tools used, and subsequent adjustments after demoulding and installation. The video focuses on the essence of the work, which is determined by the skill and erudition of the plasterer, as well as by the selection and quality of the materials used, which changed over the centuries.
In addition to examples of basic technology, there is also a surface treatment, including the possibility of gilding and color stucco polychromy, as well as the preparation of artificial marble, which was historically often used in the Czech historical interiors. Filming took place mainly in buildings of ecclesiastical buildings with the support of the Archbishopric of Prague and in the exteriors of the Prague Conservation Area, the examples of working procedures in the studios of Akant ART v. o. s.
