Jindřichův Hradec is one of the most important historical centres of Bohemia. A crucial milestone in the history of the city, a fire changed dramatically its apprearance in 1801.
Among the published historical studies and monographs (since the first half of the 19th century) there are also selected partial themes regarding thu musical past. However, a comprehensive survey of the local music culture has not yet been developed, which is also true for the period after 1801.
An important source for the history of the town and its surroundings is the weekly Ohlas od Nežárka (1871-1942). The paper is based on a detailed analytical study of this periodical.
It focuses on information about the musical life of the city in 1918 and seeks to answer the question of whether and to what extent this year was a landmark. The author focuses on mapping the activities of local music ensembles and personalities, visiting and performing guest artists in Jindřichův Hradec.
