Abstract

The book covers the topic of dyslexia within the whole lifespan - from risk factors at preschool age to specific difficulties of adults, which often combine dyslexic symptoms and secondary psychosocial difficulties. First chapters focus on the process of reading, its constraints and their sources and ways of identification.

It involves up-to-date research studies from the field of neurosciences, educational psychology, and special education, which explain aetiology and symptoms of dyslexia. The second part of the book covers a wide range of assessment and intervention approaches for various age groups.

The emphasis is on evidence-based methods and complex development of cognitive abilities. The book is for psychologists, special educators, elementary and secondary school teachers and university students of all these subjects.
