Abstract
The essay is focused on Shephelah in the late bronze age and in the Iron Age with particular emphasis laid on hypotheses relating to formation of the Kingdom of Judah. Contrary to optimistic reconstructions author considers this territorial entity as reality of only second half of 9th century BCE.
