Abstrakt
The paper traces the Ambrosian studies in the Czech language area from its beginnings to the present. First, both translations of Ambrose's works into Czech, together with the studies related to Ambrose are set into their historical and theological contexts, focusing on four periods: before the foundation of the independent Czechoslovakia, before the rise of the Com- munists in 1948, the Communist era until 1989, and the recent decades from 1989 onwards.
This shows that the figure of Ambrose and the interest in his oeuvre is tightly linked to the actual needs and circumstances of the moment. Second, a complete bibliography of Czech translations of Am- brose's works and Ambrosian studies are listed .
