Landscape between memory and forgetting: Studies from Bohemia

Publication |
2019

Abstract

The book reveals the variability in the way memory becomes part of the landscape, settles in it, and reproduces and disappears. On several examples - the surroundings of the Příbram road, the recollection of the defunct settlement in the borderland, the megalithic buildings in South Bohemia - it represents the landscape as a process that is co-created by memory as well as forgetting.

Being in the landscape involves thinking about memory, delving into the past time, experiencing its tracks and their absences.
