Flexible dosing of insulin

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2019

Abstract

The flexible insulin dosage regimen (FDI) is based on the assumption that the precise dose of insulin can be determined based on the actual glycemic level, the amount of carbohydrate in the food consumed, and, if appropriate, according to the planned physical activity of the patient. FDI is preferred in recent years over apreviously unchanged, fixed regimen of insulin dosing.

This treatment approach is adapted as much as possible to the patient'sneeds and should teach him how to adjust insulin dosing properly. To simplify and improve the quality of the diabetic patient'slife is certainly the main benet of FDI.
