Abstract

There have been many changes in the art scene of the 1930s in the Soviet Union. After the turbulent development of the 1920s, socialist realism was established as the only official artistic direction in 1934 and its principles had to be defined.

Although the new rules were first established for literature, they can also be applied to fine art, which moreover performs one of the main tasks of new art - it can affect a much larger number of people. Based on the topics that were displayed during the thirties, it is possible to reconstruct the basic features of a new direction - viewing the past, displaying the presence / future and displaying the new man (hero) socialist society.
