Abstract

Noncompliance with antihypertensive treatment is a common cause of pseudo-resistant hypertension. Inadequate control of hypertension may lead to a higher risk of cardiovascular events.

Improvement of compliance can be achieved in particular by thorough education of the patient, and optimal setting of antihypertensive therapy using fixed combinations. Fixed combination of three antihypertensive drugs - perindopril, indapamide and amlodipine (single pill) is nowadays widely available as an optimal option for patient using a free combination of three drugs.

In most of them using this fixed combination enables improved hypertension control by a single pill, leading to a reduction in cardiovascular mortality.
