Abstract
Meniere's disease (MM) is one of the most commonly diagnosed chronic affections of the peripheral vestibular system (PVS). It is a syndrome manifested by paroxysmal dizziness, fluctuating audiologic manifestations (tinnitus, sensation of full ear) and audiometrically documented decrease of the hearing threshold at low and medium frequencies, which may progress with the disease progression.
We present a case of a patient with severe course of bilateral pharmacoresistant MM in whom we applied combined surgical treatment in the form of vestibular nerve neurectomy (VN) and saccus endolymphaticus (SE) decompression surgery. Next, we briefly discuss the general view of surgical treatment of this disease.
