Abstract
The chapters evaluates the importance of Jiří Levý as a translation theorist. Based on research into the Portuguese translation of part of the monograph The Art of Translation, Petra Mračková Vavroušová develops the definition and terminological concept of indirect translation.
Ivana Kupková focuses on the path marked by Levý in the field of translation criticism and its productivity in defining the criteria for evaluating translation in the Slovak context (conceptuality of translation, perception of translation as a stylistic operation, cultural aspect of translation), both in a practical analysis of specific translations and in the latest theoretical reflections on the criteria of translation criticism. Radek Mal ý explores practically the possibilities of adaptation procedures in the current drama translation of Goethe's Faust and the importance of the speakability of translation.
