This article focuses on amalgams in contemporary French illustrated in its practical part on a sample of chosen lexemes, écolonomie and éconologie, whose research methodology draws on the international project EmpNéo. The notion of amalgam is less common language that his counterpart terminology, even its hyponym, the portmanteau word.
For this reason, it was essential to frame the contribution in a clearer theoretical context and then present the results of the research on the frequency and circulation of the two recent words.
