Abstract
I deal with Transylvania Duke Sigismund Báthory (about 1572-1613), who spent the end of his life as the owner of the estate Libochovice. Báthory's rise took place against the background of the so-called Fifteen Years' War (or Long Turkish War), i.e the long-standing military conflict between the Habsburg Monarchy and the Ottoman Empire.
