The study reconstructs the process of change in the mentality of the members of Czechoslvoak social democracy left caused by the news about the October revolution and the first phase of building socialism in Russia. The visions about the desired future and the meaning of revolution influenced by Soviet utopia led individuals nad whole groups to the communist ideology.
The conflict between the national and class identity of the Czechoslovak working class shaped the process of division of Czechoslovak social democratic party and culminate in the creation of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia.
