What kinds of values are supported by our education system?

Abstract

Accordin to international sociologica surveys, university education is strenghtening orientation towards other people including such values as universalism and benevolence. Hence social cohesion is, indirectly, supported.

Czech Republic is the only european country where this is not the case - those values are rare among our university alumni than in the rest of the population. What are the causes of such a development? The discussion program "Reflexe", prepared and moderated by Tomáš Samek in cooperation with Lukáš Matoška, introduces the view on such questions as presented by sociologists Dana Hamplová (Sociology Institute of Czech Academy of Sciences), Martin Buchtík (STEM) and Tomáš Katrňák (Department of sociology at Masary University).
